With so many questions surrounding vaccines, it's more important than ever to equip students with the tools they will need to make informed decisions about their health. Using BioInteractive’s Immune System Interactive, students can engage in guided exploration of the immune response, including the organs, cells, and proteins involved. This workshop will demonstrate how to use this interactive and supporting materials to help students understand how vaccines prime the immune response to protect against infections. Participants will also have time to consider how to implement this resource with their students, as well as potential adaptations for online learning.
This workshop is for teachers of all levels including high school biology and other life science courses including introductory and advanced (AP, IB, etc.) courses, as well as undergraduate instructors of introductory biology and other life science courses such as immunology. Strategies for synchronous online instruction will be modeled.
- The workshop will be hosted via Zoom meeting
- Our workshops actively engage participants and often feature small group work in breakout rooms to build community, foster discussion, and model classroom practice.
- Workshop attendees will receive a certificate of participation and access to the free BioInteractive resources modeled in the workshop.
Live transcript will be available in the main Zoom meeting room. If you require live transcription in the breakout rooms, or any other accommodations in order to fully participate in the workshop, please indicate this on the registration form.
