Description

This interactive tool allows educators to view, edit, create, and share storylines. Storylines are sequences of lessons in which the ultimate goal is for students to explain an overarching phenomenon. Lessons within storylines are linked by students’ questions and are individually driven by insights into smaller-scale phenomena. To develop an explanation for each phenomenon in the storyline, students use the practices of science.

Storyline Viewer is designed to help educators plan, implement, and visualize coherent lesson sequences, or storylines, driven by students' questions about phenomena. This tool provides convenient scaffolding to articulate student learning goals, science practices, crosscutting concepts, and assessments. Storylines and their associated resources are packaged in a manner that can be customized, edited, and shared. Users may download storylines developed by BioInteractive, modify these storylines to reflect local contexts, save and continually edit storylines over time, or build a storyline from scratch.

Launch Storyline Viewer to view the following storylines developed by BioInteractive:

  • Genetics of Lactose Intolerance

  • Evolution of Lactose Tolerance

  • Evolution through Animal Case Studies

  • And more to come

For instructions on how to use Storyline Viewer, watch the tutorial video and/or read the “Educator Materials.”
