Helen came to BioInteractive with 13 years of experience as a science educator and leader. She supports BioInteractive’s high school outreach and professional development work, including fostering the professional growth of the Ambassador community and supporting Ambassadors as they design and deliver professional development for science educators in a variety of contexts.
Helen earned an undergraduate degree in human biology and a master’s degree in education from Stanford University. She then began her career as a science teacher at a public charter school in Houston, Texas, teaching general biology and AP Biology there for eight years. Helen also served as the district’s Science Director for five years, setting the district’s science instructional vision, providing instructional coaching, developing a team of teacher leaders, and planning and leading professional development. She was a BioInteractive Ambassador for nine years and is a Senior Fellow with the Knowles Teacher Initiative.
