Spreadsheet Tutorial 5: Histogram
In this activity, students explore different ways of constructing a histogram using Excel or Google Sheets. Students apply what they learned by plotting beak size measurements of Galapágos finches before and after a drought.
This activity covers the different methods for constructing frequency histograms supported by different versions of spreadsheet programs. Methods range from manual counts, COUNTIFS function, Analysis Toolpak, Pivot Table, and indexed-array. The activity also touches on statistical concepts, including histogram bins.
