Description

This video shows real footage of a bobtail squid burying itself in the ground to hide from predators.

Bobtail squids are nocturnal animals. At night, they swim and hunt for prey. During the day, they burrow in the sand and remain hidden as they sleep. This video shows one bobtail squid covering its body with the gravel at the bottom of a fish tank.

This animation is a clip from a 2009 Holiday Lecture Series, Exploring Biodiversity: The Search for New Medicines.
