I teach microbiology at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Chandler, Arizona. I appreciate the different formats that BioInteractive presents for students and instructors—from project-based learning, to short and professional videos. There are so many entry points afforded by BioInteractive and the website is welcoming to all. What I value about teaching science is that I can help students to see that science is a peculiar way of thinking about and investigating the world. To treat science as just another topic that we memorize, as just another collection of facts, is a major violation of the nature of the discipline. When I’m not teaching, I read about environmental history, race my bike here and there, and travel about, taking pictures of educational architecture.
