I work at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School, an independent college preparatory school in Bradenton, Florida. I taught science and mathematics for more than two decades, including AP Biology and biology/honors biology. I love the vast array of BioInteractive resources that allow teachers to adapt to each year’s cohort of students and adjust to current developments in science and medicine. There is always a set of resources that fits a scientific concept and/or skills to capture our students’ curiosity, allowing them to explore the complexities of natural phenomena. Multiple learning objectives may be addressed in a cohesive way with pedagogy embedded solidly within the lessons. My fascinations include growing living things (mainly plants) in and out of school, as well as the development of human, canine, and reptilian brains —we have a teen, a dog, and three tortoises.
