As a founder of Quest University Canada, I had the opportunity to develop an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts and Science and over a dozen undergraduate courses in topics ranging from astrobiology to infectious diseases to nutrition. At the University of British Columbia, I taught biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, and I currently teach a wonderful course in scientific literacy where I help freshmen undergraduates join the scientific community. I conduct research on alternative assessments, distance learning, and gamified learning in STEM. My favorite BioInteractive resources are the tools that give educators the ability to customize the activity to their context—tools like Data Explorer, How Science Works, and other forthcoming modeling tools.
